I found out that \uXXXX notation works for both normal bundle messages and for those used in JSF information/warning/errors messages. So, you can write the whole file and then at the end just find&replace accentuated characters with their \uXXXX equivalents. Works for you?
Also, including accentuated characters in a bundle works fine in the page code itself. The characters are escaped correctly. But this is not true for messages displayed in the tip box when you create a message. The tips text should not be excaped or should be converted back to accentuated characters before beeing displayed.

17. Re: I need some i18n documents for JBoss forum
lucboudreau Nov 7, 2007 9:45 AM (in response to goldfrog)Escaping the characters didn't work. They still get placed in the HTML page as this :
o_help = "Liste ordonnée: [list=]texte (alt+o)";
This is an excerpt from the javascript code that's generated in the 'port reply' interface. The character 'é', which was included in the bundle as '\u00E9' gets included as 'é' in the HTML. This shows that something alters the value and recodes it anyways, wether or not I use an escaped utf-8 character.
If you need more details, feel free to ask. -

lucboudreau Nov 7, 2007 9:47 AM (in response to goldfrog)Hahaha, in me reply, the javascript should have read '&' followed by '#233;', your forum converted it...

lucboudreau Nov 8, 2007 8:55 AM (in response to goldfrog)You make a good point.
Just for the record, it is possible to solve this by subclassing the response object that's passed to the JSP page and add to it a simple function which would return a non escaped string. I might do it or maybe someone else will read this post and do it before me... who knows ;o) -

unibrew Nov 8, 2007 12:25 PM (in response to goldfrog)I'll probably move this task http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBFORUMS-260 to 1.0.1 release and get rid off this whole JS.
Apart from JS everywhere else UTF-8 works, right?
If I subclass response object then I have to force Portal to use it, right. It means that using Forums would require Portal changes, quite weird requirement ;-) -
22. Re: I need some i18n documents for JBoss forum
lucboudreau Nov 8, 2007 2:10 PM (in response to goldfrog)Okay. There's another easy option though. Create a taglib to fix this.
IMHU, better get rid of the JS box anyway. For what it tells and what it's worth... -
23. Re: I need some i18n documents for JBoss forum
lucboudreau Nov 8, 2007 2:10 PM (in response to goldfrog)Forgot to mention, there are no other issues. I'll translate the remaining strings and attach the bundle to the Jira task as soon as it's done.

unibrew Nov 9, 2007 7:16 PM (in response to goldfrog)Hey
I commited I18N support for images. Also your French language patch has been aplied.
So now, depending on set locale you should be able to see switched:
- both images and texts in French, English, Italian
- just images in German and Polish
Give it a try and please report about any problems.
