    A question about jvm heap size configuration

    Thomas Chang Apprentice

      I install a Jboss server on a Linux machine which has 4 GB ram. The Linux ist 32 bit. I set the jvm heap size as follow:

      JAVA_OPTS=-Xms2048m -Xmx2048m -server

      But some of my colleagues have different opinions. They are:

      1.

      JAVA_OPTS=-Xms1024m -Xmx2048m (the initial should be smaller than max)

      2.

      JAVA_OPTS=-Xms1024m -Xmx1024m (the heap should be smaller)

      3.

      JAVA_OPTS=-Xms3072m -Xmx3072m (the heap can be bigger since the machine hat 4 GB)

      How do you find it?
