is it possible to have a distributed entity cache between multiple jboss 4 instances, that are not configured as a cluster?

Each servers has deployed the same applications and there is a load balancer in front of the servers. So they work like a cluster, without being a cluster. Don't ask why, I don't know it! But I have to get out, if this is possible.
