We are currently using jboss 4.0.2 in production with obsolete hibernate versions : Hibernate 3.1.rc1, Hibernate Entity Manager 3.1beta6 and Hibernate Annotations 3.1beta4.

We would like to upgrade hibernate to use best features and we would prefer to don't upgrade jboss directly to facilitate the migration. So, we tried as a test to upgrade hibernate to 4.2GA but there is some conflicts about compatibility with jboss-ejb.

It is possible to do this migration without upgrading jboss? How? And what is the more recent version of hibernate we can use with jboss 4.0.2?
