Overriding default tabular html with JSF framework?

I am the front-end developer for our team.. I write html5 extremely light-weight html code using CSS extensively... When it was deicded to use Richfaces and I discovered that the JSF framework built heavy-weight tabular html, I was concerned as I haven't used tabular layout in over 8 years.

Is there any way to override the clientside html coding that JSF automatically provides?

My apologies...I had understood that richfaces was being used throughout, however, the decision was for JSF framework but only richfaces is used for one input.

What I understood was the JSF framework automatically created the html and used a very heavy tabular layout.

Hi Nancy,

Try RichFaces 4 - it's using more lightweight tableless layout than RichFaces 3.
