Third time trying to submit this question (anybody else having problems with the new forum??)

Basically, I want to pass a custom parameter type between pages. Do I need to write a specific convertId class for this? Or how do I do it?

Note: I can't include code samples as the forum keeps bombing out when I try to do that?
