As fas as I understand, URLRewrite (tuckey) is a java adapted version of mod rewrite, and then does not contain every features of the original version.
But yes, I would be able to redirect every
myValue.domain.com to domain.com/myValue
That would allow me to use dns redirections like
mysite1.com to mysite1.domain.com
mysite2.com to mysite2.domain.com
