Notification to User

Hello,

I wanted to know that how can we provide notification to user based on certain event. I want this notification to appear on the bottom right of the window and the browser shall be highlighted in the taskbar if its minimized. I really have no clue in this at all.. So any pointers to the right direction would be really great.

Sorry forgot to mention, preferably I would want users belong to a certain group should get this notification.

ICEFaces has an on demand group renderer. You can probably do remote-polling with other frameworks, too. Regarding the flashing of minimized window, I think it's a browser feature (mostly on popups?) and probably doesn't have an API.
