    Seam Cache for JSF

Regarding the caching of JSF page fragments with Seam Cache, could someone throw some light on what happens behind the scenes. Specifically, what exactly is it that gets cached? For example, if I have a group of components wrapped in a <cache> element, does the cache store the component tree and values, or does it simply cache the rendered output? In other words does the cache work in both the render response AND restore view phases?
