can we achieve client side sorting and filtering (completely at client side) in the latest richfaces 4.1 ?

in richfaces showcases there are only two examples about sorting and filtering and both of them are accessing the server to handle the sorting and filtering, worse we have to add code and method for each sortable column which is not practicale or to go down to data access layer to sort at the db level !! is thee any way to do so ?! or is it scheduled in the comming releases ?!
