IronJacamar.xml

Hi,

Could someone help me in understanding the use of ironjacamar.xml file in a resource adapter. Is this really required if I have to deploy a resource adapter in JBoss AS7. What is the advantage of having this file or what if I dont' have this file in the resource adapter, but configure in standalone.xml.

The META-INF/ironjacamar.xml file is used to configure and activate the resource adapter automatically upon deployment. You won't need it if you want to configure and active the resource adapter using the :resource-adapters: subsystem in AS7.

One more question. does the definitions in META-INF/ironjacamar.xml not overlap with META-INF/ra.xml ? Can they co-exist or should only one of them be specified. (I am deploying a resource adapter in JBoss AS7).

They co-exist - you need something that activates the resource adapter. You can use http://docs.jboss.org/ironjacamar/userguide/1.1/en-US/html/codegenerator.html from the latest Beta release to get started.
