ctomc Oct 29, 2012 10:56 AM (in response to lukascz)Lukas,
could you try with myfaces on 7.2? there are many indications that myfaces is much faster that mojarra and should work better.

16. Re: Performance slow down on JBoss 7.1.1
lukascz Oct 29, 2012 11:04 AM (in response to ctomc)Hi,
I could do that but the reason I didn't do it so far is that it will take a lot of time. The application is currently well tested with JBoss 7.1.1 Final and Mojarra so transition to 7.2 and MyFaces is gonna take a lot of resources. The problem is that I can reproduce this problem only on produciton machine after few days. That's why I first wanted to make sure that such transition will solve the issue. However, it seems that not many people experienced this so we will need to try it anyway.

jeev Oct 29, 2012 11:26 AM (in response to lukascz)Yes Lukas,
Same problem with us. We haven't tried myfaces yet as the application is currently well tested with mojarra and jboss 7.1.1 and not able to reproduce it in our preproduction environment either.
7.2 means on a milestone release? Is there any work around to try with myfaces and 7.1.1.Final?

19. Re: Performance slow down on JBoss 7.1.1
puls Oct 30, 2012 5:49 AM (in response to lukascz)The problems might be related to the following issue: http://java.net/jira/browse/JAVASERVERFACES-2176. If the List with default values grows and grows it will cause the garbage collecter to spend considerable amounts of cpu time. Maybe try upgrading the Mojarra version. We have been using version 2.1.13 for a few weeks now in production and havent had any issues.

20. Re: Performance slow down on JBoss 7.1.1
lukascz Oct 30, 2012 10:48 AM (in response to puls)Were you experiencing the same as we described?
I would like to use the most recent version of Mojarra however I found it very difficult to install it in JBoss 7.1.1. Final. The only way I managed to install Mojarra 2.1.11 was that I took those jars from JBoss 7.1.3.Final. Do you have any suggestions how to do it? It seems that just taking jar from Mojarra website and placing it to modules (with modification modules.xml and index) doesn't work.

lukascz Nov 2, 2012 9:08 PM (in response to lukascz)Ok, I upgraded to Mojarra 2.1.13. I took the modules for most recent night build of JBoss 7.2.0. I'll let you know if it helped.

22. Re: Performance slow down on JBoss 7.1.1
lukascz Nov 6, 2012 10:57 AM (in response to lukascz)I'm running it 4 days and it seems that issue was fixed after upgrading to Mojarra 2.1.13. There is small performance slow down after some time the server is started but it's not getting worse over time.

could you tell me your experience in the meantime.
I guess that we are investigating on the same problem....
Thank you.

24. Re: Performance slow down on JBoss 7.1.1
lukascz Nov 26, 2012 9:40 AM (in response to maderhan)That severe performance slow down vanished after upgrading to 2.1.13 however, there is still some slow down after the server is started. But that might be caused by another problem that I described in this thread: https://community.jboss.org/thread/213546

25. Re: Performance slow down on JBoss 7.1.1
ramakoteswar Jun 30, 2014 2:20 AM (in response to jeev)We recently upgraded to JBoss 3.2 to Jboss AS 7.1. We are also facing exactly same issue. We need to restart the server every two days. Our application with EJBs and doesn't have Spring even facing the issue. It seems it is not an issue related an application or CPU, it is related to server. We tried some configuration on server by changing VM arguments like TieredCompilation and ReservedCodeCacheSize for performence, even we haven't find any solution other than restarting the server. We tested memory peaks and CPU usage on JConsole in local system and all are in limits. But in Production the issue is repeating.
Please let us know if any advancements or solutions regarding this issue.
Thanks in advance

mvr30000 Jun 30, 2014 4:55 AM (in response to ramakoteswar)Hi all,
We had exactly the same issue / symptoms of slow down after some time. But the problem was magically resolved after removing TiredCompilation JVM parameter in JBoss .conf file.
See Slow performance with JBoss 7.x/EAP 6.1 after 24 hours
FYI, the parameter was introduced in Java 7 and the parameter is already removed from JBoss 7.2 / Wildfly 8.x.

ramakoteswar Jul 1, 2014 12:42 AM (in response to mvr30000)Thanks for your response @ Mark Volmer
We have already removed code of setting 'TieredCompilation' in file jboss-as-7.1.1.Final\bin\standalone.sh even the issue is repeating. I think this only place where TieredCompilation is has set. I haven't find jboss.conf file in any place of server. If it is wrong Can you give the exact place of change.
FYI : FishEye: changeset c525e538fda12bde76b44a6db4f61d55105c1cea

28. Re: Performance slow down on JBoss 7.1.1
mvr30000 Jul 1, 2014 4:07 AM (in response to ramakoteswar)Sorry for confusing you with the file names. The intention was to either standalone.conf or domain.conf (depends on what you are using).
And I have no other suggestions than this one, sorry.
