    techsjs2012 Newbie

      My firm had CAS working on tomcat but we are moving to AS7 and I am having issues getting it running...

      I found this web page to help me but I don't know how to do the steps it is telling me..

      how do I

      Locate: cas-web.war/WEB-INF/lib/cas-server-core-3.3.5.jar. Modify it: remove /META-INF/persistence.xml from it

          I have no idea about CAS, but I'm not sure what you are asking:

          Are you asking how to locate a file and remove a nested file from it? That should be straightforward isn't it? Or did you mean something else?

            This is the error I am getting...

            {"JBAS014653: Composite operation failed and was rolled back. Steps that failed:" => {"Operation step-2" => {"JBAS014671: Failed services" => {"jboss.persistenceunit.\"cas-server-web.war#CasPersistence\"" => "org.jboss.msc.service.StartException in service jboss.persistenceunit.\"cas-server-web.war#CasPersistence\": Failed to start service"}}}}

              That's just the error summary. Do you see any other error logs or exception stacktraces? If yes, post those and other relevant details please.

                You need to use the "jar" tool (part of the Java JDK) to unpack cas-server-core-3.3.5.jar. You then remove the specified file and then repack it with the same tool.

                  Or if you are using Windows, you can use 7-Zip or some similar tool to just open up the archive and delete the file.

                    I am using Linux... Below is what redhat support is telling me but its over my head.  can someone please help me with the linux commands(steps) to do the following...

                    After initial analysis, it is clear the app was developed for a servlet container like tomcat because it packages jars with facilities that already are provided by a full JEE container.

                    There are several jars packaged in WEB-INF/lib that should not be there, hibernate, JPA, and JTA in particular. EAP 6 ships with hibernate 4 and provides implementations of JPA and JTA, so those packaged in the app should be removed. Also, the jboss-logging jar does not need to be packaged, and neither does the validation-api or the hibernate implementation of it (these should be provided by EAP).

                    The persistence.xml in classes/META-INF does not contain a jta-data-source or non-jta-data-source element, so the PersistenceUnit can not be connected to a datasource. A datasource should be created in EAP and its name provided in this file. Please see [0] for how to create a datasource. There is a dialect specified in cas.properties, but it is unclear how it would be used because EAP is taking care of processing the persistence.xml and bootstrapping JPA. In addition, the file references HSQL, which no longer is provided in EAP as of version 6; EAP 6 ships with H2. However, neither of those should be used in a production environment. Something like MySQL, Postgres, or Oracle should be used instead.
