First thing I don't understand is why you have two appender (FILE, appLog) active wich log the same stuff in two different files.
It might be a bug if two DRF appenders are used, remove the FILE appender and see how it works.
BTW you should use append=true otherwise the log will be overwritten if you restart the server.
I changed jboss-log4j.xml file to have only one DRF FILE appender, even after the change the system is writing logs to the current active log file and also to the roated log file.
from the attached log4j config you have three appender CONSOLE, FILE and appLog.
All are referenced from the root logger entry, so you write to server.log and <name>-server.log in parallel.
I have updated the jboss-log4j.xml file to have only two appenders ("FILE" and "CONSOLE") and also I am not writing the log to server.log file at all. FILE appender will write to <name>-server.log file and CONSOLE appender is for SYSOUT. I am attaching the updated jboss-log4j.xml file.
