1. Re: ClassLoader in PluginContainer will allow to pass values from child to parent resource ? ? ?
genman Jul 12, 2013 1:35 PM (in response to arun2arunraj)1 of 1 people found this helpfulFor example, you had a 'database' resource (parent) and 'table' resources (children), and you wanted to know the total number of rows of all tables... There are two ways: 1) You take the average (resource group) and multiply by the number of children. 2) Each child 'registers' with the parent when it starts, in other words, you use the observer pattern. (And unregister when the child stops.) The parent now has a list of children and can add up all the number of rows. I would suggest going with 1) if possible, tough, since you're duplicating data with 2).

genman Jul 12, 2013 1:41 PM (in response to genman)1 of 1 people found this helpfulClassloader issues may arise if the resource types are from different plugins. I suppose the parent might not know be able to see the class of the children. But there are probably ways to get it to work. Read the docs.

3. Re: ClassLoader in PluginContainer will allow to pass values from child to parent resource ? ? ?
arun2arunraj Jul 15, 2013 12:51 AM (in response to genman)Hi Elias Ross,
Sorry for the delayed reply, I was in the holiday. I think, I have asked a question in confusing manner.
Actually, I do not want to find the count of child resources at parent level.
Instead I want to aggregate the metric values from the child to the parentof each collectionPeriod. Inorder to do that I am pusging the collected metric values to AggregateClass(MyCustomized class with setter and getter methods). At the parent Level, collecting those collected values from the AggregateClass. Whether it is possible ? ? ? But based on your point of view, I feel it is possible. But Still I do not believe myself. Please share your vast experience.
Regards,
ArunRaj.

4. Re: ClassLoader in PluginContainer will allow to pass values from child to parent resource ? ? ?
arun2arunraj Jul 22, 2013 6:00 AM (in response to arun2arunraj)ClassLoader will not do any problem. I found it with the following link. https://docs.jboss.org/author/display/RHQ/Plugin+Dependencies+and+Class+Loaders
And We cant pass the value from the child to parent. Only can do is from the parent to child.

ArunRaj.
