I am trying to configure a log handler so that my server log and perhaps other logs send the log events to a remote log host ( for example a logstash port that listens to a port. ) Now I have it working on a apache-tomcat instance using log4j. But I want to know if the Jboss custom-handler can also do something like that. ( without touching the application code since i don't have control over that. ) so what would be the best practice to log your stuff to a remote host.
A custom-handler works with any handler that extends java.util.logging.Handler. If you can find one that works with that or write your own, it's definitely possible. There is a java.util.logging.SocketHandler, but IIRC it's kind of limited.
