Impact if agents are not reachable by server

    werrenmi

      Hello together

RHQ is exact the monitoring solution as we need in our project. Unfortunately one exception ... In our deployment we can't provide reachable agents for any host, because they would be in foreign LAN's.

What's the possible impact if an agent is reachable during setup, but not while final operation? Is this really also a need if sslsocket will be used as transport protocol?

      Thanks in advance

      Regards

      Michel

          Hello Michel,

the server must be able to connect to the agent port (tcp 16163) and the agent must be able to connect to the server port (tcp 7080/7443).

You need to ensure these ports are open between the LANs.

If not, the agent will not be able to send data to the server and the server will just mark the agent as down.
