Automatic Alert Ackowledgement

I have a slightly unconventional question regarding alerts being fired in JON. I would like to have the alerts be marked as acknowledged when the alert conditions have been met. For example, I want an alert to be fired when disk usage goes above 80%. Now, if the disk usage goes back down below 80% and the alert has not been acknowledged, I want the alert to be acknowledged automatically. My current thoughts are to have another recovery alert created for when disk usage goes below 80% and get it to fire a script that will mark it as acknowledged. Has anyone had any luck with a implementation such as this? If anyone has any other suggestions on this, please let me know.

Hi Aaron. That's not totally unconventional, we've discussed this sort of thing and some people, I think, have implemented their own solutions for this. One thing to note is that RHQ 4.13 will include the work for Bug 1003211 – RFE: Enhance recent alerts view with status and type filters, which adds some related features. It does not do automatic ack but may assist in identifying the recovered alerts you want to ack. You may need something like a notification on the recovery alert that runs a script to do the ack work, or perhaps some sort of CLI script that runs intermittently, or something like that.
