How to use Narayana JTA 5.0.3.Final to provide support for XA transactions to web applications running inside Tomcat?

I am trying to use JTA 1.2 outside Java EE compliant Application Server such as in Apache Tomcat, what I've tried so far is following Mr. Jonathan Halliday's way, and How to Configure Server Platform Using Java

But I got following Exception

-javax.faces.FacesException: #{utama.satu}: javax.enterprise.context.ContextNotActiveException: ARJUNA016105: Could not lookup the TransactionManager

-Caused by: javax.faces.el.EvaluationException: javax.enterprise.context.ContextNotActiveException: ARJUNA016105: Could not lookup the TransactionManager

-Caused by: javax.enterprise.context.ContextNotActiveException: ARJUNA016105: Could not lookup the TransactionManager

-Caused by: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: Name [TransactionManager] is not bound in this Context. Unable to find [TransactionManager].

Here is my META-INF/context.xml:

I've also built my customer org.eclipse.persistence.config.SessionCustomizer as described by official EclipseLink documentation, but I am still stuck on the same exception for last 24 hours :-(

Hi Muhammad,

Gytis produced an excellent quickstart related to getting Narayana up and running inside Tomcat: quickstart/jca-and-tomcat at master · jbosstm/quickstart · GitHub

He also produced a quickstart related to running JTA 1.2 in a standalone environment: https://github.com/jbosstm/quickstart/tree/master/jta-and-hibernate

You could try to look at merging the techniques introduced in those quickstarts to achieve what you need.

hm.. I still didn't get it, well, okay I think using JTA in tomcat for XA transaction is really really complicated, but what if I used narayana+eclipselink only for just one non-xa datasource, because my app is not involving more than one resource manager that is Microsoft SQL server 2012. but I would like my app still benefited from container managed transaction and extended persistence context by the use of javax.transaction.cdi.Transactional because I want to avoid calling merge, currently I uses resource-local transaction which is really cumbersome because I had to create EMF first in my @WebListener, here is my persistence.xml github, and this is one of my SessionScoped CDI bean webapp-javaee7-HRD-di-ums.ac.id/TrgolonganController.java at master · dhaowoods/webapp-javaee7-HRD-di-ums.ac.id · GitHub

Hi Muhammad,

did you look at the jta-and-hibernate quickstart from Tom's post? (here's the link to 5.0.4.Final tag: quickstart/pom.xml at 5.0.4.Final · jbosstm/quickstart · GitHub) What where the problems you facet with it?
The main bits for you in it are these:
classes in org.jboss.narayana.quickstarts.jta.jpa package
persistence.xml file
jdni.properties file
and these methods: TestCase#beforeClass, TestCase#before, TestCase#testJpa
Also, it might not be clear from the code, but when weld.initialize() is invoked in TestCase#before, it registers CDI interceptors which allow you to use @javax.transaction.Transactional annotation. Those interceptors come from org.jboss.narayana.jta:narayana-jta:5.0.4.Final artefact.
