jdoyle Feb 6, 2015 8:39 AM (in response to johndoe70)We don't have a public roadmap for EAP 7. What's the reason for not adopting EAP 6.4?

I'm sorry to say that: But it's really a stupid idea to not have a public nonbinding roadmap. Oracle for example provides one: https://blogs.oracle.com/emeapartnerweblogic/entry/the_road_ahead_for_weblogic2

The customer wants an application based on JEE 7.
That's why RedHat lost a customer and Oracle won a customer.
Have a nice day!

Loved your answer. Completely true.
I'm facing a similar problem. I've suggested to a client, a big one in the government here in Brazil, the use of Java EE 7. In the meantime they're using WildFly. But without any word of an official "EAP" release soon, they're gonna have to switch to something else. There goes another client for Red Hat.

ctomc Apr 27, 2015 5:30 PM (in response to rodrigo.uchoa)Well guys, this is the official list of EE7 certified Java EE Compatibility application servers.
And if you read the linked road map for WebLogic you only see that they mention one EE7 feature implemented which is WebSockets,
which is also present in EAP 6.3+
If nothing else, WildFly 8+ provides full EE7 compatibility and EAP 7 will be based off WildFly code base once available.

rodrigo.uchoa Apr 27, 2015 5:37 PM (in response to ctomc)Weblogic 12.1.4 will be fully certified to Java EE 7 and will be released late this year. It would be nice to have an estimated release date from Red Hat as well.

bilge Mar 10, 2016 11:10 AM (in response to kdaham)JBoss EAP 7.0 Beta was released at the end of last year (2015).
JBoss EAP 7.0 is "tentatively planned" to be Generally Available in the first half of 2016 Calendar Year.
These release plans do not constitute commitments and can change with little or no notice.
If you need more detail and / or updates - please work with your local Red Hat account team.
