Jaikiran, have you had an opportunity to look at the attached code?  Do you have any ideas, or know of anybody that would be more familiar with this?

I'm sorry for the continued pushing on this thread, but I've been beating my head against the wall for the last week and a half on something that should be easy to configure.  I just tried downgrading to WildFly 8.1.0 and using the test code that I attached earlier, but didn't have any better luck.  I can't believe that BASIC authentication just doesn't work for web services backed by EJBs -- what am I missing?

Sorry, I haven't responded earlier. I haven't yet tested out that application, but if I find some time tonight, I'll give it a try. The other reason about the delay in response is that the forum has been completely unstable for at least a month now [ORG-2422] Repeated "site temporarily unavaiable" messages while visiting the forums - JBoss Issue Tracker.  Almost 80% of the time that I click on any thread, I get a "site temporarily down" messages. That plus the continuous neglect in managing spam in the forums Current state of forums - Neglect, spam and blocking genuine participation, can someone from .org team help?, so it just hasn't been pleasant visiting the forums and I have been staying away.

              Jaikiran,

First, thank you again for taking the time to try to help.  Second, I wasn't trying to direct any frustration towards you. I realize that you are helping everybody on these forums on your own time, and that you don't have any obligation to do so.  I'm sure that everybody appreciates the effort you put in to this place.

I have also seen the current instability of the forums.  In addition to the problems you have mentioned, the most annoying one for me is when you search the forums.  Once the search is completed, trying to scroll the browser is futile.  Every time you scroll a bit, the browser jumps right back to the top of the page.  The end result is that you can only see the first couple of hits from the search, even though there may be a lot more.

Anyway, I do have a few more things:

              1.  I attempted to run the same code on WildFly 8.1.0, and saw the same thing.

              2.  I attempted to run the code on 9.0.0 Beta 2, and it worked as expected.

Since it works in the current version of 9, I really am starting to think that security is somehow broken in the 8.x releases.  I also have another thread started where I can't pass credentials across beans.  I haven't tried that in the 9 beta yet, but plan on doing that today.
