detect startup in JBoss 5

Is there a way to detect programmatically the startup of JBoss 5 by listening to a notification? I know that there was a listener approach for that in JBoss 4, but still in jboss 5?

My idea is to activate an MBean after all applications have been deployed.

Doesn't this work in AS-5? http://www.jboss.org/community/wiki/StartupAndDeploymentCheck

I would expect it to work. If it doesn't work then please provide the details.

with a little help of the wiki I could puzzle a solution for this detection problem.

On startup I access the "Started" attribute of the Server MBean and wait until it is set to true.
