Because Teiid Designer adds client support for each Teiid release version, the tooling always lags the release of the runtime.
In the next few days, Teiid Designer 10.0 will be release which upgrades it's Teiid runtime support to 8.12. After that we'll be jumping to the next JBoss Tooling support of Eclipse Neon. We'll be releasing Teiid Designer 11.0 2-3 months after that which will upgrade to Teiid 8.13 or higher, depending on the runtime release schedule.
So how can we use the latest versions of Teiid runtime? Would it be normal or common to upgrade a production runtime to the latest but use an earlier version for which there is a released designer for development purposes? Do other users of Teiid just use the latest runtime for running regression tests in preparation for system upgrade when the supported designer is released? Can you shed any insight into either best practices, recommended practices, or just common practice around the latest runtime and the time gap between runtime release and designer release?
