Is log4j2-web jar required when using slf4j as facade with log4j2  binding in Wildfly8.2

I am currently upgrading the log4j libraries from 1.x to log4j2.8 using slf4j as facade in my webapplication deployed in Wildfly8.2

I came to know that log4j2-web is used to initialize and shut-down the log4j2 resources in webapps. Also came to know that if using slf4j, log4j2-web is not required.

      Can someone clarify?
