Risk of old versiona

what is the real risk of running older versions of AS if you harden the system manually based on later released versions? It seems like very old versions like 5 would have the vulnerabilities knonwn.

The latest versions of AS contains new functionalities, bug fixes of previous releases , new features and increased performance.It is always advisable to migrate to the latest stable version
