Hmmm, don't think in that Infinispan version. In recent versions we've added graceful shutdown when using file based persistence, which means when nodes are brought down it waits for data to finish storing in persistent store.

Depends on the configuration, if write-through or write-behind. write-through means every cache write is persisted in same thread, write-behind means the write is pushed to a different thread.
