effects of a large transaction timeout (i.e. 60 minutes)

i have a database that holds a small number of large tree-like strutures. all but two of them can be added to the database via ejbCreate in less than the default 5 minute transaction timeout, however one take about 8 minutes, and another take about 46 minutes.

other than a posible memory issue which can be fixed by increasing the jvm memory (i.e -Xms800m and -Xmx800m) what other things could effect the overall performance of jboss when using a large transaction timeout (i.e. 60 minutes )

      thanx,
