Sun JDK build 1.4.2_02-b03, mixed mode

We had system up and stable for 5 days in row,
when all the sudden JBoss redeployed entire set of ears
without any obvious reason. Not a single file was changed -
all timestamps are dated back to when system was started
5 days ago. And of course this redeployment cause ClassCastException all other the place.

Is there any way to configure such behavior, or its bug ?

And no - 3.2.3 wont work for our system at all, we tried.
