          Try to go to
jboss\bin instead and there do a

          >run jetty

What you are doing seems that it (even if it
worked) would only start jetty and not jboss.

ok...now jboss is starting but how can i know .....that jetty is also running ?
even though the following command prompt says
            [Webserver] Starting
            [Webserver] Codebase set to http://aqil:8083/
[Webserver] Started webserver on port 8083
            [Webserver] Started
but at browser....at---> http://aqil:8083/---> there is just a white page....i'm following
            http://www.jboss.org/documentation/HTML/ch13s07.html
and if jboss-jetty r running then i should be able to see
            ---------------------------------------------------
http://localhost:8080/jboss/ - this should take you to the sample application that was automatically deployed when JBoss-Jetty was started.

http://localhost:8080/ - this should take you to the HTML documentation for Jetty.

http://localhost:8080/demo/ - this should take you to some sample files that are normally supplied with Jetty.
            ----------------------------------------------------
but none of the above page is displayed........

              Mikael Eriksson Novice

You have to use the command:

              >run jetty

              and not just

              >run

At least this works with the 2.4.0/Jetty 3.1 RC8 bundle. I have not checked out the 2.2.2 jetty bundle.
