http session timing out after a few minutes

    Tim Bauer Novice

I have recently been having intermittent problem where my http session will time out causing my user(s) to be logged out...

In my application web.xml and in /server/default/deploy/jbossweb.sar/webdefault.xml file I have set <session-timeout>60</session-timeout>.

I notice on the Jetty site: http://jetty.mortbay.org/jetty/versions.txt
that there have been numerous new fixes pertaining to the jsession and associated methods and I was wondering if someone from JBoss.org (or other) could tell me if/when the newest stable release of jboss willl contain these jetty changes...or if this is the problem at all..

      My server info:

      JBoss Bootstrap Environment

      JBOSS_HOME: /Applications/jboss-3.0.4

      JAVA: /Library/Java/Home/bin/java

You'll see in the above log that session b6mbd6hs105q2 (tbauer) gets mysteriously logged out (session is somehow invalidated) and a new session is created 5oors0lms62ui (for New Guest).

Well, after LOTS of investigation, I've concluded that there is no problem with JBoss/Jetty, but there is a bug in MS Internet Exploder(IE) version 5.2.2 for Mac OS X 10.2.4.

IE is LOOSING the JESSIONID cookie, and thus the session manager things the person is NOT logged in. I implemented a listener class that let's me see the active session in the container...when IE looses the cookie, the session is NOT lost, it still is active in the session Manager....

I also tested the session cookie with NS 7.0, and Safari on Mac OS X, and IE 6 on PC...and all worked fine...

            F---ing MS IE.
