Configuring JBoss to use Non-embedded installation of Tomcat

    matthewahart1975

      Folks,

I would like to configure JBoss to NOT use the embedded Tomcat that comes packaged with it, but rather a completely separate installation of Tomcat. Is there any sort of document that describes how to do this? If not, has anyone done this before and what is involved?

Basically, my customers have been using Tomcat 5.0.28 for sometime now and have not needed a J2EE server. Now, they have bought my company's software, which deploys a "blackbox" to a J2EE server and can scan and monitor the Web Container. We support JBoss, but they are not using JBoss at all. We just need to install it so that we can deploy our BlackBox program on it and get visibility into their Tomcat 5.0.28 Web Container.

So I need JBoss to be "aware" of the already installed Tomcat that they use, but I cannot interrupt their development environment by forcing them to use the embedded Tomcat. I would rather make JBoss point to their Tomcat, thus enabling my software "blackbox" to scan its web container.

Can anyone help me with this?

      Sincerely,

      Matthew D. Ahart
