How to access secured EJB from a servlet running on a stand

Hello:
I am running a stand alone tomcat 3.2.2 to access a stand alone jboss2.2.2. My jboss is running with JAAS. Can this be done?
I tried servlet example in http://www.jboss.org/documentation/HTML/ch11s61.html with war instead of ear. I cant get a popup window from my netscape browser for me to enter user name and password.
Help.
