I am wanting to create a dedicated messaging server...I have a need for a high volume of messages...

Are there general benchmarks for the throughput I can expect to achieve? Most likely I would be using
one or more single-cpu linux/intel boxes, etc...

Also, does it make sense to have a messaging server perhaps separate from an ejb container cluster?
