    getting started with tomcat

    astro Newbie

I am new to jboss and tomcat and want to get started
testing a simple servlet. I downloaded and installed
jboss 3.04 with tomcat and ran the jboss startup script.

      When I hit http://localhost:8080 I get:

      ---
HTTP Status 500 - No Context configured to process this request

      type Status report

message No Context configured to process this request

description The server encountered an internal error (No Context configured to process this request) that prevented it from fulfilling this request.
      Apache Tomcat/4.1.12-LE-jdk14
      ---

Isn't there a concept of a doc_root with default or example apps installed?
I went through the tomcat config docs but no help. (like a default
Welcome to Tomcat! page with links to documentation)

Is tomcat supposed to work out of the box as downloaded from the jboss site
(just like it would from the apache site?).

If it does not work just like the apache downloaded version out of the box,
can you please make it do so on the next release. I do not believe
this is too much to ask. There needs to be a complete J2EE stack that works
right out of the box from the "open" community. what can I do to help make
      this happen?

what up with tomcat not working and how do I make it go?
