Keeping application configuration files out of the ear

Folks

Alright, I was a 2.4.X user and had some real good fun while using it at that time. Anyways after some battles with some other app servers am back with JBoss 3.x :). Got a quick question. I need to place some of application configuration files out of my ear. I know the log4j.xml is placed in the conf directory and I should be able to see how its acceessed if I have a look at the source code. But right now this information is kinda urgent for me and am a bit tied up with battling in time lines. So appreciate if some one could provide the necessary information. Cheers to all.

The conf directory is added as a classloader.
You just do
Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResource("whatever");

It will find the resource whether it is in conf
or your application.

Another idea: you could put application settings in the database.
