      I only run this file -- run.bat

      It start up
      but when I use jboss4.0

          run.bat is not really enough. I am having numerous issues when starting jboss 4 as well.

            And saying "I have issues" will not help you solve them. So what exactly are your "issues". What version of JBoss 4.0 are you using?

              I just downloaded 4.0 and all I needed to do was set Java_home env variable to a JDK and execute the run.bat file.

              Seems to start up.

                I set java_home in the run.bat
                as follow:
                rem -------------------------------------------------------------------------

                rem $Id: run.bat,v 1.8 2003/05/05 15:06:50 starksm Exp $

                @if not "%ECHO%" == "" echo %ECHO%
                @if "%OS%" == "Windows_NT" setlocal

                set DIRNAME=.\
                if "%OS%" == "Windows_NT" set DIRNAME=%~dp0%
                set PROGNAME=run.bat
                if "%OS%" == "Windows_NT" set PROGNAME=%~nx0%

                rem Read all command line arguments

                set ARGS=
                :loop
                if [%1] == [] goto endloop
                set ARGS=%ARGS% %1
                shift
                goto loop
                :endloop

                rem Find run.jar, or we can't continue

                set RUNJAR=%DIRNAME%\run.jar
                if exist "%RUNJAR%" goto FOUND_RUN_JAR
                echo Could not locate %RUNJAR%. Please check that you are in the
                echo bin directory when running this script.
                goto END

                :FOUND_RUN_JAR
                set JAVA_HOME=C:\jdk1.3.1
                if not "%JAVA_HOME%" == "" goto ADD_TOOLS

                set JAVA=java

                and then run the run.bat

                  I don't know if this will affect you but I vaguely remember someone saying that JBoss 4.0 requires JDK 1.4.x. I can't be certain about that but it may be worth a try. The bootstrap environment seems ok.
