JBoss startup hangs on finding 'Host'

a commandline 'hostname' returns the true name of my server but JBoss hangs up unless i change it back to 'localhost'.

Any clues how to correctly configure this?

RedHat 8.0
JBoss 3.2.2RC2
Dual Xeon processor box
JDK 1.4.1_01

I'm not sure of the exact error so can't exactly prescribe a solution. However, I'm guessing that it is trying to resolve the name in a network-sense. Check the FAQ for the 127.0.0.1 topic and look at the range of related issues and solutions. That is my best guess on the problem.
