    Runtime size and embedded JBoss

I am new to JBoss and would like to understand
      some features of JBoss.

      1. Can JBoss be used as an embedded EJB container?
i.e. can it be an integral part of a Java application
and be initialized by that application and run as a
separate thread? Or does it have to be run as a
      separate process?

      2. Does anyone know the memory foot-print of JBoss
      running under Linux?

      3. Can the unneeded packages, e.g. Tomcat, be
removed/disabled to reduce the runtime size?
