    Virtual machine choice

    testaran

I am running jboss-3.2.1_tomcat-4.1.24 on a Linux RedHat box. At current I am using IBM J2RE 1.3.1 for compliance to corporate policy. I was curious to know what's the story about VMs. Would anybody recommend a different choice for some specific reason?

      Thanks in advance

The IBM Java SDK is quite fast and was designed for J2EE-type loads. If you want Java 2 1.4.x features, then try the IBM SDK 1.4.1. They do seem to have a speed advantage over the Sun JDKs on Linux - see the performance forum. You can prove it for yourself however by running the Sun JDK under test.
