Log4j Repository Selectors

Hi there
Has anybody had success implementing a Repository Selector for log4j.
I would like to use my own log4j config to log things for the application.
This needs to be configured outside of conf/log4j.xml because of portability issues.

Any ideas / samples appreciated

Thanks for the reply Adrian.
This page still does not show how to use a configuration that does NOT live in conf/log4j.xml.
We need to be able to set up logging in our ear and deploy to multiple app servers without changing.
Therefore I think I need a repository selector.

You can write an MBean to add an appender for your application.

Logger repositories don't work with static loggers.
