we are using gzip compression on jboss using compression="force" to get gzip compression on all files types. this cause an error when using flash and IE 6 because the 404 file not found message is being gzipped and IE doesn't unpack it correctly before sending it on to flash, thereby not triggering the proper 404 error handling in flash.

is there any way to turn off gzip compression for the 404 file not found?
