    newbie: jboss installation question

    Lin Shao Newbie

      Dear all,

I am new to JBoss and Linux, when I installed it, (I run the run.sh in the $JBOSS_HOME/lib), I got the error like this:

      " No ClassLoaders found for: org.jboss.logging.Log4jService "

I didn't find the Log4jService.jar file, so I grabbed a Log4jService.java file online, and I created my own Log4jService.jar file by using "

      " jar cf Log4jService.jar Log4jService.java"

      then I put Log4jService.jar into $JBOSS_HOME/server/default/lib
I also modified the $Classpath and add the Log4jService.jar in there

      still doesn't work. same error.

I got stuck for the whole day, please help me guys!

      Thank you!

You don't have to do all that. The JBoss that is available for download won't require any changes to run.

I am new to JBoss and Linux, when I installed it,

Which version of JBoss? Where did you download it from?

          (I run the run.sh in the $JBOSS_HOME/lib)

Is this a typo? The run.sh is in JBOSS_HOME/bin and not the lib folder.

          " No ClassLoaders found for: org.jboss.logging.Log4jService "

Please post the entire exception stacktrace. Also post the logs that you see on the console.

Which version and vendor of Java do you use?

While posting the logs or code or xml content, remember to wrap it in a code block using the Code button in the message editor window and please hit the Preview button to make sure your post is correctly formatted

The version is jboss-4.2.3.GA, and I download from jboss.org, i was redirected to souceforge.org.

Yes, it is a typo. I am sorry I am a beginner.

I would suggest downloading the jboss-4.2.3.GA.zip file again. And validate the download using the provided m5sum or sha-256 value.

                Hi, PeterJ

downloaded the jboss-4.2.3.GA.zip file again, and it started!

Can you tell me how to validate the file downloaded? I downloaded the sha-256 file, but don't know what to do with it.

                  Peter Johnson Master

Run the sha256sum utility, giving it the zip file. It will print out a result; compare that to the contents of the sha-256 file.

The same holds true for md5, in which case you would use the md5sum utility.

Check the man pages for details.
