Can someone tell me if the max-pool-size parameter works per (matched) managed connection?

let's say, i have two legacy connections, distinct by remote ip adress. connection matching uses the ip adress to find pooled connections, does a max-pool-size of 3 work per ip adress? resulting in max 3 managed connection for each ip?
