JBoss 3.0RC2 EmbeddedCatalinaServiceSX startup fails

i'm trying to start JBoss 3.0RC2 (bundled with Tomcat 4.0.3) on a RedHat 7.3 Linux system. during the startup process an error message appears in the logs about starting EmbeddedCatalinaServiceSX:

2002-05-14 15:45:23,583 ERROR [STDERR] RuntimeErrorException: instantiating org.jboss.web.catalina.EmbeddedCatalinaServiceSX failed: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache
/catalina/LifecycleListener
Cause: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/catalina/LifecycleListener

i'm attaching full startup log to this post.

any ideas on what might be causing this problem?

Is the location of the tomcat bundle correct
in tomcat4-service.xml
It is defined as an xml entity.

no, catalina.home was not set properly, setting it fixed
my problem. thanks! apparently setting CATALINA_HOME environment variable was not enough.
