Problem using JDK1.4 Logging API with JBoss 3.0.1

has anyone experienced any difficulty integrating jdk 1.4 logging API with JBoss? When I run it with Log levels INFO and higher it works well. but anything lower generates the following exception in my output log file:

I tried using both the default configuration file (ships with jdk) and a custom one. it fails in both cases..

my code works fine outside jBoss.

      any idea?
      many thanks
