Yes you right. Our "tooltip" attribute in the rich:message works just as h:message "tooltip".
thank you for your reply. The question is, if it was really planned, that the rich-message-tooltip should work like documented (should display details) or just like h:message?

The tooltip will not work.. and ticket will not be accepted till the h:message works as it works now because of compatibility issues. Just imagine the users which ported their pages to Rich faces and tries use messages that change its behaviour.
The compatibility is an argument, but the problem is, that h:message is also not showing the details (as described in docu) but only the summary.
What would be with an additional attribute like "override_h_message = true/false" and default is false. Then we would have the opportunity to behave correctly and to show the small summary directly and the larger details in tooltip.
