I am evaluating JBosscCache for my company and it looks like a very worthy offering. One question puzzles me though, and I was not able to find a discussion about it in this forum: UDP being what it is (no guaranteed delivery), why would it be chosen as the default protocol for a replicated cache? Does JBossCache add its own acknowledgment mechanism on top? Is it perfectly safe and reliable to use JBossCache with UDP, or will there be possible data loss? Should one turn to TCP (and its overhead) instead?
