JBoss has successfully integrated a number of existing project to speed up it's development, diversify it's code base and possibly increase it's quality. Jetty, JavaGroups, hsql are the obvious examples...
Why not integrate a versatile persistence package like Hibernate to handle persistence instead of writing your own? Did anybody investigate this solution? Are there major hurtles?
