Tomcat should be dropped

Can anyone explain why Tomcat 4 is included when it has so many bugs?

My two main gripes about it are;

- There are currently 683 bugs listed as new, assigned, or reopened (this is after lots of releases).

- Some of the bugs clearly mean it's not standards compliant (see http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=21795 as an example)

It seems that Tomcat 4 has been pretty much written off and won't be fixed whilst the majority of the work is going into Tomcat 5.

By including Tomcat and all it's bugs you're tarnishing the reputation of JBoss.

Despite it's issues (and I can't say that 683 is that many considering the nature of the application) Tomcat is the best Open Source Servlet engine you can find. It is generally regarded as being standards compliant and works for every application I have ever written.

I must agree with CD on this. Tomcat is good open source code. If you wan to discuss buggy code take a look at some of Microsoft's offerings.
I can't think of any major software (or minor come to think of it) which has zero bugs...
