i had a thought about adding a plugin framework to the news module, kind of like what julien did w/ the html module so that we could support different types of "news" systems.

ie:

"free form" like what we have now (also, http://www.slashdot.org)

announcement: ie: http://www.freshmeat.net

blog(?) : ie: http://www.fark.com

we could store news specific data as xml in the database, so adding new news "systems" wouldn't require database changes.

thoughts?
